Steve Schmidt

Stephen P. Schmidt is reuniting with former partners and associates to join the Estate Planning team. Steve is an experienced attorney with nearly 30 years as an estate planning attorney. His experience has focused on estate planning with an emphasis within elder law and asset protection planning.

Steve grew up in Lincoln and Central City, Nebraska. He has lived his entire life in Nebraska and Iowa. Since law school, Steve has been primarily in private practice as an estate-planning attorney but has had the opportunity to work as a trust officer and planned giving officer.

He understands the power in the right tools and processes that could be used to protect not only the client but also protect the clients’ families from unnecessary court supervision or losing assets to the nursing home. Steve also enjoys assisting clients to clarify the legacy they want to leave for their family and to charities.

Steve is married to his wife, Faye, with whom they have four children who are all out of college. Steve also enjoys time with his four grandchildren including one set of triplets. I enjoy hiking, playing basketball, watching Nebraska football, Creighton basketball, playing board games, and reading.
